“Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.” — Matthew 5:5 (ESV)
“Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you.” — 1 Peter 5:6 (ESV)
Meek and Humble = Stability and Confidence
Not confidence in ourselves, but confidence in the Lord and in everything He has promised.
The world is broken. It will take every opportunity to weaken you. When life feels unfair, your thoughts can quickly shift from “this isn’t right” to “I don’t deserve this.”
That’s a dangerous slope.
Believing you’re undeserving of hardship or criticism is often rooted in self-righteousness and pride.
Instead, see these moments as opportunities to reflect His light.
The world already expects a certain reaction—defensiveness, anger, bitterness.
Don’t give it what it expects.
The most powerful moments come when what’s expected doesn’t happen, and what’s unexpected does.
Be Teachable—Even When You’re Not at Fault
Be willing to accept correction, even when you haven’t done anything wrong.
Who was punished for something He never did? Jesus.
And who are we called to be like? Him.
Reacting to undeserved correction with anger or resentment is a quiet, but real, form of pride.
Scripture reminds us: “Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written,‘Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.’”— Romans 12:19
This doesn’t mean weakness or blind submission.
It means strength under control.
It means living with the wisdom to know when your pride doesn’t matter.
There’s no need to defend or explain yourself.
No need to point fingers or justify why correction should fall on someone else.
God’s Word says:
“Do not repay evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary, bless, for to this you were called, that you may obtain a blessing. For ‘Whoever desires to love life and see good days, let him keep his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit; let him turn away from evil and do good; let him seek peace and pursue it.’” — 1 Peter 3:9–11
True stability and confidence come from humility and meekness.
When we trust God fully, we don’t have to fight for ourselves—He fights for us.
Confidence in Christ allows us to stay steady, gentle, and fearless, even when the world expects the opposite.
“The LORD will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.” — Exodus 14:14 (ESV)
“He leads the humble in what is right, and teaches the humble his way.” — Psalm 25:9 (ESV)
“With all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love.” — Ephesians 4:2 (ESV)
“Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.” — Matthew 23:12 (ESV)
